Introduction to navigation course based from our shop in Shere, for RUNNERS and WALKERS.
This is a one day course to give you the confidence and skills to safely navigate through the lowlands and hills of Great Britain.
This is a very hands on day with lots of opportunities to learn and practice new skills under the friendly supervision of an experienced and fully qualified mountain leader Sean who is an International Mountain Leader.
We will explore the fundamentals of map work and we will look at well known UK maps, their symbols and scales. There will be sessions on contour interpretation, route selection and the use of pacing and timings.
All our courses run at a pace to suit every ones learning style and we will begin with simple techniques and use these as the building blocks for progression.
The course will be based from our Shop in Shere, Surrey with practical sessions in the surrounding beautiful Surrey Hills and North Downs Way.
Itinerary:
Meet: Surrey Trek and Run, Shere Lane, Shere, Surrey, GU5 9HS
Time: 08.45am for a 9.00am start
You will start with a theory session in the shop until 10.30am and then start your practical session in and around the Surrey Hills until roughly 4.00pm.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the theory session but you will need to bring a packed lunch for the afternoon session.

Once you have booked your place we will send you a follow up email with further details about the day and answer any questions you may have.
We look forward to seeing you on the day!
